How to Apply, Step by Step
A complete walkthrough of the Elmwood application process. Create your Ontario Colleges account, submit documents, accept your offer, and register for classes.
Step 1: Choose Your Program
Browse our programs page or talk to an advisor. Check that you meet the admission requirements and that the program has an intake date that works for your life.
Tip: You can apply to up to five Ontario colleges for one base fee through ontariocolleges.ca.
Step 2: Create an Ontario Colleges Account
Go to ontariocolleges.ca and click "Apply." You will need an email address, your Ontario Education Number (OEN) if you have one, and a credit card for the application fee. The system will guide you through selecting Elmwood Community College and your specific program.
Step 3: Submit Your Documents
Upload these through your Ontario Colleges account: high school transcript or equivalent, post-secondary transcripts (if applicable), resume (for mature applicants), portfolio (for Graphic Design or Photography), and English test results (for international applicants).
If you cannot upload, mail certified copies to the Registrar's Office at 1800 Concession Road 8, Elmford, ON N0B 1C0.
Step 4: Wait for Your Offer
We review applications in rounds. If you meet the requirements, you will receive an offer of admission through ontariocolleges.ca and by email. Competitive programs (Practical Nursing, Pharmacy Technician) may use additional ranking criteria beyond minimum requirements.
Step 5: Accept Your Offer
Log in to ontariocolleges.ca and click "Accept." You must accept by the deadline in your offer letter or the seat goes to the next person.
Step 6: Pay Your Deposit
Pay the $250 registration deposit through MyElmwood. This holds your seat and is applied to your tuition. It is refundable if you cancel before the refund deadline.
Step 7: Complete Post-Admission Requirements
Some programs need more from you after acceptance: police check for Community & Justice Services, Police Foundations, Child & Youth Care, ECE; immunization for all Health Sciences programs; CPR/First Aid for Health and Community Services; equipment for trades programs; and language test for ESL applicants even if already accepted.
Step 8: Register for Classes
Use MyElmwood to pick your timetable. Most programs have set schedules, but some offer evening or online sections. Register early for the best selection.
Step 9: Attend Orientation
Welcome Week is not a party. It is a practical introduction to campus, your faculty, your employer partners, and the One-Stop Hub. You will leave knowing where to park, where to eat, and who to call when life gets complicated.
